Itâs off and flying! State Member for Ferny Grove Geoff Wilsonâs new website www.geoffwilsonmp.com was officially launched yesterday at a small ceremony in Leslie Patrick Park, Arana Hills.
Geoff Wilson said at the launch how he wanted to serve the Ferny Grove electorate better by using new technology such as the Internet.
âA lot of people are reluctant to approach their Member of Parliament, or simply cannot get to my Electorate Office,â Geoff Wilson said.
âI want to give people greater access to information and services, and have therefore designed my website from the point of view of a local resident wanting help from their local Member,â Geoff Wilson said.
âBy accessing my website, residents will be able to:
- ask me to help them with a local issue or concern
- keep up to date with current issues
- find out what is going on in the Ferny Grove electorate
- change their electoral enrolment details
- find a local Justice of the Peace in their neighbourhood
- nominate a citizen for a community award
- ask for a congratulatory letter
âCommunity and sporting organisations will also be able to:
- ask me for a letter of support for a funding grant
- book a tour of Parliament House
âI have also inserted links within each module to many other websites which have vital information for residents and community groups,â Geoff Wilson said.
âI have also included links to local community organisations who have volunteered their website details as a way of publicising their services to residents,â Geoff Wilson said.
âWhile these are fairly routine requests that my Electorate Office receives, they can take some time to organise and arrange,â Geoff Wilson said.
âWith a simple click on their mouse pads, residents will now be able to access information more easily and more quickly than at present,â Geoff Wilson said.
âI encourage those people who do not have access to the internet at their home to go to their local Council libraries at Mitchelton and Arana Hills, and the Picabeen Community Association at Mitchelton where there is free internet access,â Geoff Wilson said.
âFor those people such as myself who did not know how to turn a computer on, and are interested in learning about computers and the internet, contact Picabeen (3354 2555) and sign up for free computer training,â Geoff Wilson said.
âAs a recent convert to the power of the internet, I can see many advantages and opportunities with the new technology, and I invite residents to have a look at my new website and to subscribe to my monthly newsletter,â Geoff Wilson said.
