The Samford Lions Club is busily raising funds for their Miss Personality Quest entrant, Lisa Mazzeo.
The Miss Personality Quest is a major Lions, Lioness & Leo Club project conducted throughout Queensland and Northern New South Wales. The Quest is open to young women of eighteen years and over who are single and prepared to raise funds for a number of worthwhile charities. The major beneficiary of the Quest is the Queensland & Northern New South Wales Lions Medical Research Foundation.
State Member for Ferny Grove Geoff Wilson MP supported the Club's efforts by hosting a barbecue at Parliament House. The barbecue was held in the very pleasant Speaker's courtyard, opposite the Speaker's Green. Geoff donated a wine gift pack which was raffled at the barbecue.
Prior to the barbecue, guests were taken to the Public Gallery and witnessed a lively debate in the House. After dinner, Geoff took members and their guests on a "short" 20 minute tour of Parliament House. The tour was interrupted by the ringing of the bells for a Parliamentary division, requiring Geoff to abandon the tour and quickly race back to Parliament. He re-joined the tour after the division, and the twenty minutes turned into a very interesting and entertaining hour.
"I was delighted to not only support Lisa and the Club, but to also show members and their guests parts of Parliament House not normally available to the public," Geoff Wilson said.
The Club's next fund raising event is a sausage sizzle on Saturday morning, 30 April outside the IGA Supermarket in Samford Village. Sign Up for free e-mail updates!
