Geoff flagging a ride on the Samford commuter bus to Ferny Grove railway station
The Samford trial commuter bus service to the Ferny Grove Railway station has been granted another three month extension, State Member for Ferny Grove Geoff Wilson announced today.
TransLink will extend the trial of Samford bus service, route 399, until 23 December 2005 with a revised timetable.
âThe original trial was for only three months up to June 2005 and I was delighted when it was extended to September,â Geoff Wilson said. âIt is fantastic that after more lobbying with local support and feedback we achieved another three month extension to December.â
One of the morning services has been brought forward and an extra evening service provided to better suit commutersâ needs.
Geoff Wilson said, âThe new timetable will see the now recognisable green and yellow buses leave Samford Village at 6.45am and 7.23am to meet the 7.06am and 7.42pm trains to the city, effective Monday 3 October 2005.â
"Coming home, Samford commuters will have an extra service and be able to choose from three departure times â 5.25pm, 6.01pm, and 6.28pm â from Ferny Grove rail station.
"I hope that with the revision of services, peak hour commuters who don't currently use the trial service will consider it as a viable option for transport between the village and the rail station," Geoff Wilson said.
Route 399 starts at Main Street in Samford Village and stops on Samford Road near Cash Avenue (South) before terminating at Ferny Grove station. Services will continue to run Monday to Friday in the peak hours, and be operated by Brisbane Bus Lines.
"Again, I urge Samford commuters to help make a permanent bus service viable by using the trial service as much as possible," Geoff Wilson said.
The extension of the trial service has come about through the continued combined efforts of the Samford Public Transport Group, the Samford and District Progress and Protection Association, TransLink and Samford commuters,â Geoff Wilson said, âand I thank them all.â
TransLink will continue to help fund the trial through the Samford and District Progress and Protection Association Inc.
