Students and staff at Ferny Grove State High School can look forward to learning and working in new school facilities in 2006.
State Member for Ferny Grove, Geoff Wilson, said a new $2.4 million
classroom block and $1.5 million auditorium were now in the final
stages of construction.
âThe new 280-seat auditorium will be used for wide range of school
activities, from music and drama performances to staff lectures and
meetings,â Geoff Wilson said.
âThe auditorium will offer students a state-of-the-art performance
space and provide music students with access to an extra eight learning
areas for music practice and lessons.
âIt will also be available for use by the community outside of school hours.
âThe Beattie Government fully funded the $1.5 million auditorium and
provided $1.3 million towards the new classroom block.â
Education Minister, Rod Welford, said the new facilities were among
42 school infrastructure projects worth more than $95 million being
completed in readiness for the 2006 school year.
âFerny Grove State High School is one of hundreds of state schools
across Queensland to benefit from the Beattie Governmentâs record
$455.1 million investment in school infrastructure this financial
year,â Mr Welford said.
âOur Government is committed to updating school facilities to
provide the best learning and working environments for students and
staff.
âProjects include the construction of new schools, new and upgraded
classrooms, administration facilities, special education units,
resource centres and libraries.
âIt also includes improvements to sport and performing arts
facilities such as school ovals, swimming pools, school halls and
