Paramedics in outer north west Brisbane will receive a boost to response capability after todayâs handover ceremony of a new state-of-the-art ambulance vehicle at Grovely.
Emergency Services Minister Pat Purcell was joined by State Member for Ferny Grove Geoff Wilson to officially commission the vehicle.
Mr Purcell said the Mercedes âSprinterâ vehicle is worth $150,000 and is fully equipped with pre-hospital equipment.
âThe new Sprinter takes Grovelyâs fleet to four ambulances and is just one of more than 200 vehicles the Beattie Government is providing this term.
Geoff Wilson said he was delighted to visit the Grovely ambulance station today to hand over the new vehicle with the Emergency Services Minister.
âThis is a tremendous investment in our ambulance services and demonstrates the absolute benefit of the Community Ambulance Cover. Ensures a first class cover across Queensland
âThe Beattie Government is committed to ensuring Queenslanders have the best possible ambulance service.
âBy October next year the Beattie Government will have added an extra 500 paramedics.
âThe 2005-06 budget for the QAS, of $313 million, is almost double that of $158 million when the Coalition was last in power in 1997-98.
âThere is no doubt the Sprinter is a valuable addition for the dedicated and hard-working paramedics at the Grovely station.â
Geoff Wilson also thanked members of the Samford First Responders and the volunteers of the Local Ambulance Committee for their ongoing support of the station.
