Ambulance services in Samford will receive a massive boost with work on a new ambulance station now under way, Emergency Services Minister Pat Purcell said today.

Mr Purcell and the Member for Ferny Grove, Geoff Wilson, today officially turned the first sod for the new station in Mt Glorious Road, Samford.

The station would be a first-class facility for paramedics and help them to service their local community, Mr Purcell said.

“Construction has recently commenced and should proceed fairly quickly.

“Paramedics are consistently voted as Australia’s most trusted profession, and I’m delighted the Beattie Government can provide them with the best facilities,” Mr Purcell said.  “The highly regarded First Responders will continue as a valuable support to the new Station.”

The Minister congratulated Geoff Wilson for his hard work in ensuring the best outcome for his constituents.

“Geoff is a tireless worker for the people of the Samford Valley, and I thank him for his commitment to this project.

“The State Government’s commitment to this new facility ensures the growing and dynamic Samford community will continue to receive quality ambulance services well into the future,” Geoff Wilson said.

“I have campaigned for a number of years to get an ambulance station at Samford,” Geoff Wilson said, “and I look forward to its completion later this year.”

The Minister also thanked Cr Bob Millar of the Pine Rivers Shire for his active support of an ambulance station as a great result for the residents of Samford Valley.

“The project will provide Samford Valley with a state-of-the-art ambulance station. Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics are some of the most highly trained anywhere in the world, and I’m pleased they will have a new home from which to serve the people of the Valley.
