Geoff welcoming newly appointed Officer-in-Charge of the Samford Ambualnce Station, Christian Francois.
An intensive care paramedic with more than 30 years experience has been appointed as Officer-in-Charge of the Samford Valley ambulance station.
The $1.2 million station is currently in the final stages of being built, and should be finished within weeks.
Christian Francois, who became a permanent ambulance officer in 1976, has been appointed as the stationâs first Officer-in-Charge.
Mr Francois was in the inaugural group of staff to take part in the Queensland Ambulance Serviceâs (QAS) Intensive Care Paramedic program, which provides ambulance officers with specialised, high-level training in pre-hospital care.
In 2004 Mr Francois received the QAS Star Care Award for the Brisbane region Paramedic of the Year. He lives in Samford with his wife and two young children.
Member for Ferny Grove Geoff Wilson said Mr Francois was an outstanding person to lead the new Samford Valley station.
âThe Queensland Ambulance Service is fortunate to have the services of officers such as Mr Francois,â Mr Wilson said.
âOver three decades he has demonstrated his commitment to caring for the safety and wellbeing of Queenslanders.
âMr Francois is passionate about the local area, and has an excellent relationship with the Samford First Responders Group.
âParamedics do amazing work, in conditions that are often demanding and difficult. It is no surprise they are consistently voted as Australiaâs most trusted profession.â
