BCF's Round Up for SES

State Member for Ferny Grove, Geoff Wilson, today announced that the highly successful partnership between Queensland’s State Emergency Service (SES) and retailer Boating Camping Fishing (BCF) will continue for a second year.

“This is a wonderful initiative and I applaud the Keperra BCF for their commitment to the local SES,” Mr Wilson said.

“Over the past year, BCF has actively supported the SES through educating and informing the public about how they can be better prepared for events such as floods and storms.

“BCF’s ongoing ‘Round Up for SES’ initiative involves giving their customers the option to make donations by rounding up their payment on purchases.

“The initiative has raised more $100,000 since March last year, which has enabled the SES to purchase equipment that will further enhance its flood and storm response capabilities.”

Mr Wilson said BCF has been working closely with the SES to help provide funding and attract more volunteers to the organisation, and the outdoor retailer’s team is really getting behind the initiative.

“SES volunteers readily put themselves on the frontline for the well-being of others. The local SES helped out in the 2008 November storms and supported the community when they need them the most,” he said.

Members of the local community are able to donate money to the SES at any BCF store simply by rounding-up the value of their transaction to any price they nominate.

BCF is also serving an important role in raising awareness of the SES, encouraging volunteering through their extensive customer network and playing host to local SES fundraising, demonstrations and recruitment events.
